2 sticks butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cup sugar
5 eggs at room temperature
3 cup flour sifted before measuring
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Combine all dry ingredients and sift again. Add vanilla to milk and add alternately with dry ingredients. Blend thoroughly. Turn into a greased, floured tube pan. Place in a cold oven. Set temperature at 350 degrees. Turn oven on, bake 1 hour and 10 minutes.
