Plain Old-Time Cookies

1/2 cup margarine

1 cup honey (or 1 cup sugar)

1 egg

1 tbsp baking powder

2 tbsp milk

2 & 1/4 cup flour

Cream margarine. Add honey, then well-beaten egg. Add milk gradually. Sift Baking powder and half of the flour and add to mixture. Add balance of flour gradually, beating until mixture leaves sides of bowl. Store in a cool place for an hour or more to stiffen. Break off small pieces of dough, roll out on floured board and cut in fancy shapes.

Bake on cookie sheet greased with margarine at 400 degrees.

Variations:

Add a little cocoa.

Add a few spices.

Add a little grated coconut.

Yield: 3 & 1/2 dozen
