1 cup butter

1 & 1/2 cup sugar

3 eggs

3 cup flour

1/2 tsp soda

1 tbsp hot water

1 pound dates cut fine

2 cup pecans (heaping)

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp allspice

Cream butter and sugar, add egg yolks. Fold in beaten egg whites. Sift flour and spices together and add gradually. Add nuts and dates. Dissolve soda in hot water and add to mixture.

Drop the size of a nut on lightly greased cookie sheet about an inch apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
