1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1 (10.5 oz) can onion soup
1 cup dried red kidney beans
4 cups water
3 tbsp chili powder
1&1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp sugar
3/4 tsp Tabasco sauce
Traditional Way: Brown ground beef and onion in large skillet. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer on low 3 hours, or until beans are tender, stirring occasionally. Add water if necessary. Serves 4-6.
Modern Way: Brown ground beef and onion in skillet. Place ground beef and remaining ingredients in slow cooker. Mix well. Cover. Cook on high 8-10 hours. Serves 4-6.
